Matcha is a finely ground Japanese-style green tea made by traditional technology. Unlike steeped tea, matcha is consumed as a powder of the whole leaf, making it especially concentrated and giving it a rich taste and characteristic green colour (from chlorophyll). It naturally contains caffeine together with the amino acid L-theanine.
Preparation
Pour 250 ml of hot but not boiling water (70–80°C) over 1/2–1 teaspoon and whisk vigorously until the powder dissolves and foam appears. Drink plain or with plant milk.
